Variety Show Panel Sparks Controversy Over Guest Betting and Privacy Dispute

A recent Chinese variety show has sparked intense online debate following controversial behavior by panel members Allen Su and Huang Zihongfan, who were criticized for placing bets on participating guests. The situation escalated further as Allen Su became embroiled in a separate public controversy regarding the alleged exposure of a non-celebrity individual, commonly known as a ‘su ren’.

Reports and social media discussions highlighted that Su firmly denied the accusations, stating that he did not expose any private information about the individual. His defensive response—marked by statements asserting he did nothing wrong and refusing to acknowledge the claims—failed to calm the public. Instead, it fueled further backlash across various platforms, including Sina News and Phoenix Net. Viewers and netizens expressed growing dissatisfaction with the conduct of commentators in the show’s observation room, with many calling for a reshuffle of the panel members to restore professionalism and better privacy protection standards in entertainment programming.
