2026 China Radio and Television Quality Production Conference TV Series Forum Held in Beijing
The 2026 China Radio and Television Quality Production Conference recently convened its flagship TV Series Forum in Beijing, drawing industry leaders, creators, and platform executives to chart the future course of Chinese television. A major highlight of the event was the joint initiative launched by four major streaming and broadcast platforms, introducing the ‘Drama Looks Good’ campaign aimed at elevating narrative depth and aesthetic standards across productions. Discussions throughout the conference underscored a strategic pivot within the industry, moving away from past reliance on gambling single viral hits to building a more sustainable, high-quality content ecosystem.
Technological integration, particularly the convergence of artificial intelligence and broadcasting, emerged as a central theme of intense discussion. Industry panels explored how modern audiovisual tech is opening up unprecedented creative imaginations, with AI-driven long-form dramas poised to secure mainstream television network broadcasts. Experts noted that artificial intelligence is no longer merely an experimental tool but a practical asset streamlining production workflows and inspiring novel storytelling formats. Alongside the main television forum, specialized sessions like the micro-short drama forum further analyzed pathways for high-quality growth in emerging digital formats.
As audience preferences evolve and regulatory frameworks mature, the upcoming viewing season is expected to reflect significant changes in production priorities. Creators and platforms are increasingly focusing on nuanced character development, profound cultural resonance, and technological innovation rather than formulaic tropes. Observers point out that these shifts indicate a mature turning point for Chinese television, where artistic integrity and commercial viability go hand in hand. The Beijing conference has thus served as a vital weather vane for the industry, signaling a disciplined yet imaginative new chapter for domestic television production.
